Tinubu directs MDAs to adopt full digital work processes

President Bola Tinubu has directed all Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments to deepen the adoption of digitalised work processes, declaring that the era of “manual inefficiency” in Nigeria’s public service must end.

Tinubu gave the directive on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of the International Civil Service Conference 2026 held in Abuja.

Speaking on the theme, “Reforms, Resilience and Results,” the President who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, said the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms were aimed at building a faster, more accountable and technology-driven civil service capable of meeting citizens’ expectations.

“Accordingly, all Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments are hereby directed to sustain and deepen their digitalised work processes. Agencies are also directed to adopt digitalisation across their internal operations and service delivery systems,” Tinubu said.

“The era of manual inefficiency must give way to a culture of speed, transparency, data-driven decision-making and citizen-centred service,” he added.

The President said 38 Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments were already operating on a secure, paperless and end-to-end electronic workflow system, describing it as evidence of the administration’s commitment to transforming public service delivery.

“When we spoke of digitalisation in 2025, some may have considered it an ambition for the distant future. Today, with 38 Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments operating on a secure, paperless and end-to-end electronic workflow system, we are sending a clear message: Nigeria is building a public service that enables progress,” he said.

Tinubu noted that the reforms were being strengthened through an ongoing Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis approved during the 2025 conference.
