Tinubu fiddles while Nigeria is drowning, Atiku lambasts President over trip to France

Former vice-president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu, accusing him of neglecting his duties as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and failing to address the various security crises that have plagued the country.

In a post on his verified X, formerly Twitter, account, Atiku criticized Tinubu for being on a “so-called private visit” while kidnappers killed a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians.

He said the president is playing fiddle while the nation is drowning, asking him to resign if he cannot handle the challenges of leading Nigeria.

Atiku wrote, “Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity.

“To imagine that the Commander-in-Chief is on a so-called private visit while kidnappers kill a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians.

“If the shoes are too big for Emilokan, he should step aside. Nigeria does not need another Tourist-in-Chief. The country needs 24/7 leadership to confront the pervasive insecurity and collapsing economy.”

The nation has been battling security issues in recent weeks, with reports of kidnapping on the rise daily. Last Thursday , the Lagos State Chairman of the PDP, Philip Aivoji, was kidnapped along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while kidnappers abducted six sisters in an Abuja estate, killing one of them and only releasing the other five after ransom had been paid.

On Monday, two traditional rulers in Ekiti State were murdered by suspected kidnappers while on their way from a security meeting in Ado Ekiti.
