President Bola Tinubu recorded a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary in Ondo State on Saturday, securing 181,966 votes across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who served as the collation and returning officer, announced the result at The Dome in Akure after collating results submitted by local government officers.
Aiyedatiwa disclosed that 193,334 party members were registered for the exercise, while 181,996 members were accredited and also cast their votes during the primary election.
According to the result announced by the governor, Tinubu polled 12,048 votes in Akoko North-East, 10,388 in Akoko North-West, 6,005 in Akoko South-East and 9,485 in Akoko South-West. He also secured 13,313 votes in Owo, 15,864 in Akure South and 15,320 votes in Ilaje Local Government Area.
The governor said Tinubu’s only challenger, Mr Stanley Osifo, failed to secure a single vote across the 18 council areas, describing the exercise as one of the most peaceful and credible primaries conducted in the state.
Speaking after the exercise, Aiyedatiwa said the outcome reflected the unity of the party in the state and the confidence of members in the leadership of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
He added that Ondo had become fully aligned with the APC, expressing optimism that the state would deliver even more votes for the president in the next election. The governor also disclosed that the party was targeting one million votes for Tinubu in 2027.
In his remarks, former Ondo State governor, Olusegun Mimiko, commended governors supporting the president, saying national challenges required collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments. He also appreciated Tinubu for appointing three substantive ministers from Ondo State into his administration.
