Tinubu holds closed-door meeting with APC governors ahead of 2027

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held closed-door talks with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid preparations by the ruling party for the 2027 general elections.
The governors, under the auspices of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, met with the President shortly after the National Economic Council meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, as the meeting was held behind closed doors.
The meeting came days after the APC announced the composition of its 2027 presidential campaign council as part of efforts to strengthen its electoral machinery.
The party appointed former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named Secretary.
The APC also announced that its electronic membership registration exercise would resume nationwide from Monday, August 31.
The party’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, said the resumption had been authorised by the party leadership.
