Tinubu meets Italian PM, Jordan’s King Abdullah II at Aqaba Process Security Summit in Rome

President Bola Tinubu has met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, and King Abdullah II of Jordan on the sidelines of the Aqaba Process Heads of State and Government Meeting in Rome, Italy.
The meeting formed part of President Tinubu’s engagements at the high-level security summit, which focuses on tackling terrorism and transnational threats across West Africa and other regions.
President Tinubu arrived earlier in the Italian capital on Sunday, October 12, for the summit, which officially commenced on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Aqaba Process brings together Heads of State, senior intelligence and military officials, as well as representatives of intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, to deliberate on emerging global security challenges.
Co-chaired by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Italian Government, the Aqaba Process was launched by King Abdullah II of Jordan in 2015 as a counterterrorism initiative aimed at strengthening international cooperation against terrorism and organised crime.
The platform also seeks to address the growing links between land-based insurgencies in the Sahel region and maritime piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, while fostering coordinated strategies for regional stability.
