Tinubu orders security chiefs to rescue abductees, dismantle terror camps nationwide

President Bola Tinubu has ordered security chiefs to rescue all persons held captive by terrorists and bandits and eliminate their camps across the country ahead of the January 2027 general elections.
Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, a retired general, disclosed this on Thursday after a security meeting presided over by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Musa said the meeting reviewed the country’s security situation and preparations to ensure peaceful elections, with the President directing security agencies to intensify operations against criminal groups and secure the release of abducted persons.
“The directive from the President is: all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those that have been abducted, kidnapped, wherever they are.
“There shouldn’t be any camp of any terrorists or bandits anywhere in Nigeria,” the minister said.
He added that Tinubu had directed the security agencies to ensure that Nigerians could exercise their voting rights without fear, intimidation or threats during the elections.
According to Musa, the President is committed to a free, fair and credible electoral process and has assured political parties that security personnel will remain impartial.
“Mr President made it very clear he wants a free, fair and credible election. We must do everything possible to ensure that the country is safe and secure for the citizens to go out and vote,” he said.
