President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to accelerating Nigeria’s development through technology and food security, drawing lessons from emerging economies such as Brazil.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interactive session with Nigerians living in Brazil, Tinubu said his government is determined to push reforms aimed at transforming the economy and fostering inclusive growth.
“We must bring Nigeria to the forefront of Africa’s progress, driven by technology, food sovereignty, and the courage to change our destiny,” he said.
The president described his visit to Brazil as a strategic step toward deepening bilateral ties, noting that both countries once shared similar economic starting points. He urged Nigerians in the diaspora to see themselves as key partners in rebuilding the country.
“We have the brains, the energy, and the youth. We have everything we need. Now, we must act,” Tinubu added.
Tinubu also expressed support for an upcoming cultural voyage involving Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka and called for greater unity among Nigerians at home and abroad.
Earlier, Chuka Emmanuel, chairman of the Nigerian community in Brazil, pledged support for national development, citing progress in educational initiatives. He said the number of Nigerian PhD students in Brazil had grown from three to 296 in the past 18 months, mostly on scholarships.
