Tinubu praises Arogbofa’s lifelong service to education at 87

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated elder statesman and educationist Seinde Arogbofa on his 87th birthday, describing him as a principled leader committed to national development.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Arogbofa’s contributions to education, progressive politics and his service as former Secretary-General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere.

Tinubu noted that Arogbofa remains one of the few surviving loyalists of the late sage Obafemi Awolowo, often referred to as Awoists, who continue to uphold the progressive ideals associated with the movement.

The President highlighted Arogbofa’s impact in the education sector, particularly his work as a school principal and his leadership role as National President of the All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools.

According to the statement, his efforts helped improve educational standards in Ondo State and across the country.

Arogbofa was also recognised for his intellectual contributions as an author, especially his book Understanding Afenifere, which documents the history and evolution of the organisation.

Tinubu commended Arogbofa’s loyalty to Afenifere leader Reuben Fasoranti, noting his opposition to factional divisions within the group.

The President also acknowledged Arogbofa’s early support for his presidential ambition, describing him as one of the respected progressive leaders in the South-West who stood firmly behind his candidacy.
