President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to boosting security in Nigeria’s North West region, pledging to deploy advanced surveillance technology to combat banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

At a state dinner hosted by Katsina leaders on Friday night, Tinubu emphasized the importance of reclaiming ungoverned forests and warned that insecurity must be tackled decisively to attract investment.

“We will invest more in technology and take over the forests,” he stated.

The President also commended economic recovery signs, pointing to bold policy moves and unveiling plans to consider upgrading Katsina’s airport to create 2,700 jobs.

He pledged continued support for victims of terrorism and emphasized collaboration with states and local councils on security.

Tinubu lauded former Governor Aminu Masari’s support and praised Katsina’s contributions to national leadership, describing former President Muhammadu Buhari as a man of integrity.

Masari, in return, thanked Tinubu for key appointments and expressed confidence in his ability to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.

In his address, Governor Dikko Radda detailed the state’s new intelligence-focused security outfit and N54 billion airport expansion plan. He also elaborated on the airport expansion plan, which is expected to generate 2,700 direct jobs at a cost of N54 billion.
