Tinubu urges ministers to work on reviving economy

President Bola Tinubu on Monday directed the ministers to work together to restructure the economy and make life more bearable for the people.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, said this at a media briefing at the end of the inaugural Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Abuja.
Edun said that the president unveiled a roadmap for the future of the economy and urged the newly formed Federal Executive Council to set new development goals in line with his administration’s eight key areas.
Speaking further, he stated that the president had reaffirmed his commitment to implementing his eight-point plan to revive the economy over the next three years.
According to Edun, the programme would concentrate on creating jobs, ensuring food security, enhancing youth and women’s security, upholding the rule of law, and combating corruption.
In her address, the new Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, has promised to draw more investments into the country.
She also promised to ensure that her ministry works with the President’s manifesto in creating 50 million jobs.
She said this would be achieved in phases.
“In his manifestos, the President promised 50 million jobs. And that’s our target. And we are going to take it in phases. We are looking at different sectors of the economy to create jobs.
“We are very confident we will achieve this.” She said.
