Tinubu urges national prayers, unity in 2026 Eid al-Adha message

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for peace, national stability, and wise leadership across the country.
In his 2026 Eid al-Adha message on Tuesday to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world, the President extended warm felicitations to the faithful as they mark the festival, describing it as a reminder of the virtues of faith, obedience, sacrifice, and compassion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He emphasised that the lessons of the festival should inspire greater unity, selflessness, and care for the less privileged, regardless of ethnic or religious differences.
A key highlight of the message was his appeal for prayers for the nation, where he urged Muslim faithful to dedicate the sacred period to seeking divine guidance for Nigeria’s leaders and peace in communities across the country.
“To our Muslim faithful, I urge you to use this sacred occasion to pray for our country, for peace in our communities, and for wisdom for those in leadership,” the President said.
Tinubu also reflected on ongoing national reforms, stating that despite economic challenges, they are aimed at strengthening long-term prosperity, improving stability, and attracting investment. He expressed optimism that recent efforts by his administration are beginning to yield positive economic outcomes.
On security, the President acknowledged continued attacks in some parts of the country by criminal groups but assured citizens that government and security agencies remain committed to defeating terrorism and banditry. He insisted that affected communities are “not abandoned or forgotten.”
He further encouraged Nigerians to extend support to the vulnerable and strengthen communal bonds during the festive period, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving security, infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development.
