President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians living abroad to contribute their expertise and resources toward building a stronger and more prosperous nation, declaring that “Nigeria is on the rise again.”

Speaking on Thursday at the Kahala Hotel and Resort in Yokohama, Japan, during an interactive session with members of the Nigerian community on the sidelines of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), Tinubu highlighted his administration’s reforms aimed at driving economic growth and stability.

The meeting, attended by professionals, entrepreneurs, and students, provided a platform for the president to outline progress in passport issuance, healthcare upgrades, and investment-friendly policies. He stressed that national development requires collaboration between citizens at home and those in the diaspora.

“For economic growth and opportunities available in Nigeria, don’t stay away. Your contribution is very much needed. If you stay away, who will build it?” Tinubu asked, urging Nigerians abroad to serve as ambassadors for the country and project its image positively.

The president invited senior government officials, including Minister of State for Industry, John Enoh, and NASENI Executive Vice Chairman, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, to brief attendees on ongoing programmes. Business executive Wale Tinubu also spoke on how recent reforms have improved competitiveness, attracted investment, and boosted the stock market.

Tinubu said his government is committed to creating an environment where all Nigerians can feel the benefits of change. He cautioned against negative portrayals of the country, warning that such narratives discourage investment and undermine development efforts.

Leaders of the Nigerian community in Japan, led by union president Emeka Ebogota, praised the pace of reforms and pledged greater involvement in the country’s transformation agenda.

The session was attended by several cabinet members, senior officials, and private sector leaders, underscoring the administration’s push to engage Nigerians globally in its economic recovery drive.
