President Bola Tinubu has called on all public and private schools to prioritize the safety and security of children at all times. He also directed regulatory authorities in the education sector to enforce strict compliance with safety standards.

The President made this appeal in his condolence message to the families affected by a tragic fire at an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sympathy to the parents, guardians, and families who lost loved ones in the incident. He also extended his condolences to the Zamfara State government and the school’s proprietors.

The President prayed for the quick recovery of those receiving medical treatment and asked God Almighty to grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed while comforting their loved ones.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu also addressed the tragedy, extending her heartfelt condolences to the people of Zamfara State and specifically to Governor Dauda Lawal.

In her press statement, she expressed sorrow over the loss of 17 lives in the fire and prayed for divine comfort and strength for the bereaved families.

Her Excellency emphasized the incident as a stark reminder of the need for robust safety measures in all public facilities.

“This once again brings to mind the need for precautionary safety measures in all our public facilities,” she stated, adding that such tragedies must not recur in Zamfara or anywhere else in Nigeria. She concluded by praying that Allah grants the souls of the departed eternal peace.
