Nigeria’s sprinter and world record holder in the Women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, is set for her first race of the season at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet in Kingston, Jamaica, on Saturday. She is expected to hit the track in the 60m event.
Amusan is scheduled to race against Jamaican athlete Shericka Jackson, one of the country’s finest sprinters, marking the first time they will compete in the same event.
This will be Amusan’s first official race since the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It will also be Jackson’s first race since pulling out of the Games last year.
The 27-year-old Amusan, who made a coaching switch in September 2024, is now training under Glen Mills, Usain Bolt’s former coach, in Jamaica. She will be aiming for a strong start to the season after struggling in her previous campaign.
However, the meet is not World Athletics-certified and will not count for qualification purposes for the 2025 World Championships, scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from September 13 to 21.
