Tragedy as kidnappers kill Senegalese goalkeeper in Ghana

A devastating tragedy has hit Senegalese and African football as young goalkeeper Cheikh Touré has been found dead in Ghana.

The tragic news was confirmed on Sunday morning by Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.

Cheikh Touré, a promising talent nurtured at Esprit Foot Yeumbeul, was reportedly found dead under harrowing circumstances in Ghana.

According to information released by the Senegalese Embassy in Accra, he fell victim to a network of fraudsters and extortionists.

Reports indicate that Touré was lured by a group of individuals who deceived him into believing he had an opportunity for trials with a professional club. The fake offer ultimately turned into an abduction.

The kidnappers later demanded a ransom from his family, who were unable to raise the requested amount. When their demands were not met, they allegedly killed him.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad has announced that an investigation, in collaboration with Ghanaian authorities, has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
