Troops capture notorious terrorist leaders in Sokoto, Southeast
The Nigerian military, with troops of Operation Fansa Yanma has apprehended a notorious terrorist leader, Abubakar Bawa Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo. The arrest took place in Rumji village, Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a recent statement by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, Habu Dogo was identified as a high-profile target on the watchlist of security agencies in both Nigeria and Niger Republic. His arrest is seen as a critical step in curbing the cross-border activities that have fueled instability in the region.
Meanwhile, in the Southeast, troops detained seven commanders and operatives linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The arrests are part of a larger crackdown on groups posing security threats across the country.
The military’s recent operations have resulted in substantial achievements, including the neutralization of 187 terrorists, the arrest of 262 suspects, the rescue of 147 kidnapped victims, and the recovery of a cache of arms.
