Twenty Nigerian students awarded scholarships to study at ESMT Berlin

Twenty Nigerian students have been awarded scholarships to study at the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin, Germany.

The scholarships were officially accepted by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, during a special dinner in his honor hosted by German entrepreneur Lars Windhorst in Berlin, as revealed in a disclosure by Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Communications Strategy,

Lars Windhorst, co-founder of Sapinda Group and owner of the fashion company La Perla, extended the scholarships as part of his commitment to fostering educational opportunities for Nigerian students.

The scholarship program aims to strengthen educational ties between Nigeria and Germany, offering selected students a chance to receive world-class education and skills at one of Europe’s leading business institutions.

In his acceptance speech, Minister Tuggar expressed gratitude to Windhorst for his generosity, highlighting the transformative potential of the scholarships. He noted that the initiative would provide the students with valuable opportunities for shared learning and cultural exchange, enriching their educational experience. Tuggar also praised ESMT’s reputation as one of the top business schools in Germany and Europe, recognizing its role in shaping future leaders.

Minister Tuggar also invited dignitaries to invest in Nigeria, highlighting the significant strides being made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reposition Nigeria as an economic haven for foreign investors.

He emphasized Nigeria’s vast investment opportunities and cited recent macroeconomic reforms by the Tinubu administration, such as the removal of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and the unification of the exchange rate, which are boosting the economy. Tuggar also called for the Global North to invest in Africa’s infrastructural development rather than focusing solely on geopolitical considerations.

Minister Tuggar concluded by stating that the scholarship opportunity would significantly contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills needed for Nigeria’s growth and development.

The scholarship program announced at the event held at the exclusive China Club in Berlin, was attended by prominent leaders from the private and public sectors, including Jörg Rocholl, President of ESMT Berlin.
