Tragedy struck the Omiifun community in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State after two men reportedly lost their lives inside a deep well while attempting to retrieve a mobile phone.

The incident occurred when a 46-year-old man, Kayode Oluwakinse, popularly known as ‘Super,’ died while trying to rescue another man named Chinedu, who had earlier entered the well.

Western Post gathered that Chinedu had climbed into the well to recover his mobile phone which accidentally fell inside.

According to reliable sources, Chinedu retrieved the phone but reportedly slipped while trying to climb out of the well, a situation which eventually resulted in his death.

Narrating the ordeal, Oluwakinse’s wife disclosed that her husband rushed out of their home after hearing that his family friend, Chinedu, could not get out of a well alive.

According to her, Oluwakinse immediately removed his clothes and slippers before descending into the well with the intention of rescuing the victim but unfortunately did not also make it out alive.

A third man who equally attempted to rescue Oluwakinse reportedly lost consciousness midway inside the well but was quickly pulled out by onlookers and is currently receiving treatment.
