Two forms of banditry existed in Kaduna during El-rufai’s administration- Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has accused the past administration of ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai of subjecting the state to two forms of banditry: one in the forests and the other within the Government House.
In a statement released on Thursday, Sani alleged that during El-Rufai’s tenure, Kaduna was victimized not only by bandits in its forests but also by corrupt practices within the state’s administration. He claimed that thieves operating from the Government House had plundered the state.
Sani took to social media platform X to commend the State House of Assembly for its investigative report, which indicted the El-Rufai administration for fraud.
He urged the Assembly to take steps to recover the misappropriated funds.
“The Kaduna Assembly has done a good job. I wish to congratulate them. The next step is to ensure the recovery of our stolen money from those leeches and vultures,” Sani posted.
He further criticized the former administration, stating that “Kaduna state was simply plundered by fraudulent technocrats, thieving consultants, and contractors domiciled in Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.”
Reflecting on the impact of the alleged corruption, Sani pointed out the disparity between the wealth accumulated by the corrupt officials and the debt left for the state’s citizens.
“They left behind estates and malls for their children and left behind a mountain of debt for the children of the poor,” he said.
Sani’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about governance and corruption in Kaduna, prompting calls for accountability and recovery of stolen assets.
