Two men were on Wednesday arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged theft of cows valued at ₦2 million and for resisting lawful arrest.

The defendants, Adam Iliyasu, 22, and Ibrahim Suleiman, 33, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The prosecutor, Inspector Suleiman Adebayo, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on January 9, 2026, around 4 p.m., at the Elegbeka area of Owo, along Ifon Road, Ondo State.

Adebayo alleged that the defendants, in company with others still at large, conspired to steal two cows belonging to one Adamu Abdullahi.

He further told the court that the suspects resisted arrest by engaging police officers in a struggle, an action said to be capable of breaching public peace.

According to the charge sheet, the offences contravened Sections 516, 390(9) and 249(d) of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The Chief Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until March 2 for mention.
