Udom, Tambuwal lead Atiku campaign council, confirms WesternPost story

The Peoples Democratic Party has appointed Akwa Ibom State Governor  Udom Emmanuel as the Chairman of its Presidential Campaign Council, while Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal was appointed Director General of the National Campaign Management Committee.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Umar Bature, on Thursday.

The development confirmed WesternPost’s earlier report that Tambuwal was going to lead the party’s campaign.

WesternPost had earlier reported after the party’s National Executive Committee meeting that the Sokoto governor was stepping down as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum to emerge DG of the campaign.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Muhammed was appointed the Vice Chairman of the Council (North), while Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is the Vice Chairman (South).

Tambuwal will be assisted by four deputy directors general. They are Senator Liyel Imoke as DDG Operations, Prof Adewale Oladipo as DDG Administration, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi as DDG Technical & Systems and Okwezieleze Nwozo as DDG Research & Strategy.

The 326-member council has all the PDP governors including Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as members.

The campaign organisation will be inaugurated at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on September 28.
