UEL semifinal: Tottenham claim 3-1 victory over Bodo/Glimt

Tottenham took a big step toward the Europa League final with a deserved first-leg win over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt — but a late goal might have left a small window of doubt.

It was one of Spurs’ best performances of an otherwise disappointing domestic season and leaves them just two games away from a first trophy since 2008.

Ange Postecoglou’s side needed only 38 seconds to open the scoring, with Brennan Johnson heading in from Richarlison’s nod-down.

James Maddison doubled the lead, brilliantly controlling Pedro Porro’s long ball before squeezing it into the bottom corner.

Dominic Solanke made it 3-0 with a calm penalty after Cristian Romero was fouled.

However, there are injury concerns for Spurs, with goalscorers Maddison and Solanke both forced off in the second half.

The second leg in the Arctic Circle is far from a formality, with Glimt having beaten Porto, Besiktas, Olympiakos, and Lazio at home this season.

An all-English final in Bilbao could be on the cards, with Manchester United also winning their tie 3-0 against Athletic Club.
