UNIMED refutes tuition hike report, says fees remain unchanged
By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED), Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, has debunked reports claiming that the institution increased its tuition fees.
She described the reports circulating on social media as false and mischievous, insisting that there was no general fee increment across the university.
She said, “There are a lot of incorrect narratives in some sections of the media on tuition at UNIMED. We find the incorrect depiction of fees for our programmes by some fifth columnists hiding under the media as an attempt to discredit a rapidly growing institution.”
Adejuyigbe explained that only fees for new students were slightly adjusted to meet current economic realities, while all fees remained transparent and publicly available on the university’s website.
She said the institution’s fees were still among the most affordable and largely subsidised by the Ondo State government.
On the partnership with the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital, she clarified that the arrangement does not affect UNIMED’s teaching hospital in Ondo.
She added that the university’s students would continue to have unrestricted access to facilities and lecturers at the Akure complex under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
