The management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has declared that the institution has no plans to join the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Ademola Adesoji, in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday disclosed that students have resumed for the rain semester academic session and that lectures will commence very soon.
He urged the students and the public to disregard any information stating that UNIOSUN will soon join the ASUU strike.
Similarly, the acting Chairman, ASUU, Osun State University, Dr Wende Olaosebikan disclosed that the school is not embarking on strike now because the union is under suspension by the national leadership.
“We are under suspension by the national executive council of our union. We are all affected by the demands put forward to the Federal Government by our leaders. “But as soon as we complete the process of our reinstatement and if the strike is still on, we are definitely going to join. We have sent our application through the zone and to the national to reinstate us.
“Some of our members during the 2020 strike defiled the strike order and the national leadership felt offended when they applied the rule,” he said.
