By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for the 2026 Osun election after winning the party’s primary.

The primary, held on Wednesday at the OASIS Event Centre, Osogbo, had 150 accredited delegates — five from each local government area. The electoral committee recorded 145 valid votes and five invalid votes, with all valid votes cast in favour of Adeleke.

Announcing the result, the Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Abdulazeez Salaudeen, said the team delivered a transparent and credible process.

He stated that the committee had fulfilled its mandate to conduct a free, fair and credible primary, before declaring Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke winner of the election.

The National Chairman of the Accord Party, Barr Maxwell Ngbudem, commended the smooth conduct of the exercise and later presented the certificate of return and the party flag to Adeleke.

In his acceptance speech, Adeleke, the sole aspirant in the race, expressed gratitude to party leaders and delegates across the 332 wards, pledging not to take their confidence for granted.

He challenged future opponents to run on their records, insisting that his administration’s achievements over the past three years remain unmatched.

The primary was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while Adeleke arrived at the venue in the company of his deputy, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants.
