US Embassy in Nigeria announces closure January 20 to observe MLK Day

The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos announced on X (formerly Twitter) on January 19, 2025, that they will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025.
The closures are in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (#MLKDay) and the U.S. Presidential Inauguration.
The announcement, shared via the official X account of the U.S. Mission in Nigeria (@USinNigeria), read:
“The U.S. Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos will be closed on Monday, January 20, to commemorate #MLKDay and the U.S. Presidential Inauguration.”
