Utomi steps down as Peter Obi emerges Labour Party presidential candidate

Former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Obi’s emergence came after another presidential aspirant on the platform of the party, Prof. Pat Utomi, stepped down at the venue of the presidential primaries on Monday and endorsed the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant, who only joined the party last week. It was learnt that Utomi was instrumental in Obi joining the Labour Party from the PDP.
The primary election was held at Orchid Hotels, GRA, Asaba, Delta State.
The 3rd Force Movement under the umbrella of the National Consultative Front, NCFront, after adopting the Labour Party as its platform had on Sunday called on more leaders of conscience in the country to join the party as the alternative to the ‘Big Tent’ for the 2023 elections.
The 3rd Force Movement was initiated to create a strong platform to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP, both of which have had opportunities to lead Nigeria and failed.
Obi left the PDP last week, blaming recent developments in the party for his defection.
