VP Shettima departs Abuja for New York to attend 80th UN General Assembly

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for New York, United States, to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), scheduled to be held from Monday, September 22, to Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Shettima is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the global gathering and is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the high-level General Debate.
According to the Vice President’s itinerary, he will also join world leaders at several side events, including the UN’s special session on climate, where he will announce Nigeria’s new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
