VP Shettima returns to Abuja after UNGA, Germany engagements

Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Tinubu at the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and concluding a series of high-level engagements in Germany.

During the week-long mission, Shettima delivered Nigeria’s national statement at the UN, where he called for comprehensive reforms of the global body, advocated Africa’s sovereignty over its $700 billion mineral resources, and reinforced strategic partnerships with global stakeholders, including the United Kingdom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Vice President also met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who commended Nigeria’s bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. In another forum, Shettima presented Nigeria’s $200 billion energy transition opportunity to international investors, highlighting the country’s drive for sustainable development.

Before heading to Germany, Shettima engaged with members of the Nigerian diaspora, assuring them of greater inclusion in the Tinubu administration’s policies and programmes.
