WAFCON: Super Falcons’ final group match uncertain as CAF investigates Algeria

The final Group B fixture of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations between Nigeria and Algeria is now uncertain, following allegations of rule violations by the Algerian team.

Group B comprises Nigeria, Algeria, Botswana, and Tunisia.

Reports from Morocco indicate that Algeria may have breached CAF statutes during the ongoing tournament.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the launch of an investigation into the matter.

In an official statement, CAF said it had opened a probe into alleged violations by the Algerian Women’s National Team during the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2024.

CAF added that it would not make further comments until the investigation is concluded.

If found guilty, Algeria could face heavy sanctions or possible expulsion from the competition.
