Video that landed Oyo East LGA Chairman in trouble
The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday, suspended Olusola Oluokun, Chairman of Oyo East Local Government over the viral video.
He was suspended following the presentation of a Matter of Urgent Public Importance titled “Urgent Call For Full Investigation into the indecent attitude of the Chairman, Oyo East Local Government, Mr. Olusola Oluokun in a Viral video online”.
In the video, Oluokun showered praises on one ‘Iya Aduke’, a political stalwart for helping him become the local council chairman. He mentioned Senator Sunmonu, apparently referring to the ex-Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, who was a two-time member of the assembly, representing Oyo East/Oyo West during ex-governor Abiola Ajimobi’s tenure.
The House frowned at Oluokun’s utterances in the video, suspended him and subsequently set up a committee to investigate the matter. The council Vice Chairman was directed to act as chairman, pending the conclusion of investigation.
