The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Oyo State Archery Association, Mr. Seyi Alaba, has pledged to promote and develop archery across the state.
Alaba, who also serves as the captain of Ibadan Golf Club, made this commitment earlier in the week during the inauguration of executives for various Sporting Associations in Oyo State, held at the State Secretariat, Ibadan.
He emphasized the need to nurture young talents, organize training programmes, and host regular competitions as key strategies to grow the sport.

“By the grace of God, I will try my best and leverage my experience in other sporting activities to make archery a popular sport in the state,” he said.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, charged the newly appointed chairmen of various sports associations to remain proactive and committed to their roles.
“As a government, we cannot do it alone. We need your support—even though some of you have already done excellently well in developing sports in the state,” she said. “We seek more collaboration, and we are ready to support you. We cannot afford to fail at the next National Sports Festival in Ogun State.”
The inaugurated Sports Association executives include representatives for boxing, weightlifting, handball, athletics, judo, abula, table tennis, chess, kickboxing, shooting, aquatic sports, lawn tennis, wrestling, volleyball, and others.
