Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has suggested that a financial conflict between former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), and late democracy martyr, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, led to the annulment of the 1993 presidential election.

During an Instagram Live session, Seun Kuti said, “When Yomi Johnson killed Samuel Doe, he fled to Nigeria. Doe had support to come to Nigeria at the time.

“There were rumors back then that Samuel Doe’s money caused a dispute between IBB and Abiola, and this led the former Head of State to deny Abiola the presidency.”

Seun Kuti also claimed that journalist Dele Giwa was killed because he was planning to expose a wealthy Nigerian drug dealer.

He added, “It was alleged that Dele Giwa was about to expose a prominent Nigerian involved in drug trafficking. The best hard drugs in Lagos were sold on the Island, and the children of the rich were involved in selling them.

“What led to Dele Giwa’s death? How many musicians and actors have been caught for their connection to hard drugs, even before the rise of internet fraud (Yahoo)? Many people in this country are compromised by their involvement in the drug trade.”
