The Executive Director of the Oye Ibidapo-Obe Foundation for Educational Transformation, Mrs. Olushola Ibidapo-Obe, has outlined the vision behind the proposed Oye Ibidapo-Obe Technical University, saying it is aimed at advancing science, technology, innovation and industrial growth in Nigeria.

In a statement on June 24, 2026, Mrs. Ibidapo-Obe said the institution is designed to fulfil the dream of her late husband, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe.

She said the university, currently undergoing approval by the National Universities Commission, will offer programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Renewable Energy, Data Science, Information Systems and Industrial Innovation.

“He wanted an institution that would produce the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers capable of driving Nigeria’s digital transformation and industrial growth,” she said.

Mrs. Ibidapo-Obe disclosed that the university would be unveiled on July 5, 2026, during the third biennial symposium of the Oye Ibidapo-Obe Foundation for Educational Transformation.

She said development partners had pledged support for the project, with one benefactor undertaking the construction of the administrative block and a financial institution offering technological support.

According to her, the university is expected to create jobs, attract investments and stimulate economic activities in Osun State while serving as a centre for research, innovation and technological advancement.

She added that the institution was sited in Ilesa to honour the late professor’s roots and contribute to the development of the community through quality education and research.
