Wike hails Tinubu for peaceful FCT elections, says poll showcases Renewed Hope Agenda

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has praised Bola Tinubu for what he described as his leadership role in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the FCT Area Council elections held on Saturday.
In a statement issued on Sunday through his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the calm and orderly manner of the polls reflected the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the growing confidence of residents in the democratic process.
According to the minister, the outcome of the elections demonstrated that residents of the FCT were committed to good governance and could not be swayed by what he termed “emergency democrats” seeking to gain political advantage.
“The election is a reflection of the President’s vision and leadership, and a testimony that the Renewed Hope Agenda has brought optimism and confidence to the people of the FCT,” Wike said. “The peaceful conduct of the election shows the commitment of residents to democracy and good governance.”
Wike also commended candidates who participated in the polls, noting that their involvement underscored faith in the democratic system, regardless of electoral outcomes.
He congratulated both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on their victories, describing them as the ruling party and the “real opposition party,” respectively.
The minister further applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their roles in managing the electoral process effectively.
He urged those elected to serve with humility and dedication, emphasizing the need to prioritise social development and the welfare of residents in the FCT.
