Wike predicts larger ‘Rainbow Coalition’ for Tinubu ahead of 2027

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has predicted the emergence of a larger political coalition in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike spoke on Friday in Abuja while inspecting ongoing projects in the FCT, where he also commented on the recent visit of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
The minister described Adeleke’s engagement with Tinubu as part of an emerging “larger Rainbow Coalition” involving politicians from different political parties who support the president ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“What happened last night is meeting to rebuild a larger Rainbow Coalition. And he (Adeleke) is supporting Mr President. He’s in a different party; I’m supporting Mr President, and I’m in a different party,” he said.
He disclosed that more politicians would join the coalition in the coming weeks, while dismissing claims by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the party contributed significantly to Adeleke’s victory in the Osun governorship election.
Wike also said the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had weakened the party’s ability to function as a formidable opposition, adding that the emerging political realignment had changed the political landscape ahead of 2027.
On the FCT projects, Wike inspected the N5 Extension in Life Camp, being constructed by Julius Berger, and the N1 Road project by Arab Contractors. He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and said both projects were scheduled for completion and handover in December.
The minister also inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the IBB International Golf Club and directed that the facility be ready for reopening in December. He said the government would not continue to fund the club’s operations after its reopening, urging its management to generate enough revenue to sustain the facility.
