Wike slams Fubara over budget presentation letter to Rivers Assembly

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the letter sent by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to the state House of Assembly regarding the 2025 budget presentation, calling it “useless.”
Wike, who served as Rivers State governor before Fubara, made this statement during a media chat on Wednesday.
His remarks follow an ultimatum issued by Rivers Assembly Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, demanding that Fubara represent the budget within 48 hours.
Amaewhule’s ultimatum came after the Supreme Court, in a ruling delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, directed 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to resume their legislative duties immediately.
Reacting to the development, Wike accused Fubara of insincerity in his approach to resolving the political crisis in the state.
He urged the governor to foster a better relationship with the legislature rather than making symbolic gestures.
“Letter to the Rivers House of Assembly is useless; he’s playing to the gallery,” Wike stated.
