Wike vows to deliver Rivers, FCT for Tinubu in 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged massive votes for President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State and the FCT in the January 2027 presidential election.

Wike also declared himself the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that there was no other leader of the opposition party.

The minister spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

Wike, a former Rivers State governor, said he was speaking as a member of the opposition while pledging to deliver both Rivers and the FCT for Tinubu.

“For me, as an opposition party member, as the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, there are not two leaders of the PDP.

“I’m the leader of the PDP, so I speak on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said.

The minister said he learnt only on Wednesday, through a newspaper, that he had been appointed to coordinate Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT.

Describing the assignment as straightforward, Wike said he was confident of securing overwhelming support for the President in both locations.

“Simple, there is no too much work for me. It’s Rivers and FCT, and let me say and pledge, by the grace of God, Rivers and FCT will vote massively for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. That is my job,” he said.

Wike warned campaign coordinators against relying on Tinubu’s victory at the national level as an excuse for failing to deliver their respective states.

“If you don’t deliver your state and the president wins, don’t say we have won,” he said, stressing that campaign officials must demonstrate their effectiveness through electoral results.
