Winning the fight against TB is possible – Oluremi Tinubu

As Nigeria joins the world in marking World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2025, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has reaffirmed that ending TB is achievable through commitment, investment, and effective healthcare interventions.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver,” the First Lady emphasized the need for collective action to eradicate one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases.
“As the National and Global Stop TB Champion, I take this responsibility with deep personal commitment,” she said. “The fight against TB is not just a policy issue—it is personal. I have felt the pain of losing a friend to TB, a stark reminder that this disease remains a major health threat, especially when left undiagnosed and untreated.”
She urged Nigerians to take TB seriously and seek early testing and treatment.
“If you have a persistent cough lasting more than two weeks, unexplained weight loss, night sweats, or fever, please visit the nearest health facility. TB is curable, and early treatment saves lives.”
The First Lady also called for stronger investments in TB control and improved healthcare access to ensure life-saving treatment reaches those in need.
“Together, yes! We can end TB,” she declared. “Let us commit, invest, and deliver on this promise for a healthier and TB-free Nigeria.”
