Women’s empowerment key to building stable families — Oluremi Tinubu

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on Sunday said expanding women’s access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities and leadership platforms is vital to building stronger families and a more prosperous nation.

In a message marking the International Women’s Day 2026, the First Lady said empowering women and girls should be seen as a strategic investment in the country’s future rather than an act of charity.

“When we give women access to education, healthcare, economic empowerment, leadership platforms, justice and equity, we gain stronger families, more prosperous communities, and a more inclusive nation,” she said.

Tinubu noted that the theme of this year’s celebration — “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls” — highlights the importance of ensuring women’s rights and equal opportunities across all sectors.

She joined millions of Nigerians and the global community in celebrating the achievements, resilience and contributions of women and girls.

According to her, advancing women’s rights and opportunities will ultimately strengthen national development, stressing that “when women rise, Nigeria rises.”
