Workers’ Day: Aiyedatiwa promises improved welfare for Ondo workers

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and charged them to improve productivity in line with ongoing reforms.
The governor spoke at the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure.
Addressing workers, Aiyedatiwa described them as central to governance and development, commending their resilience and dedication to duty across various sectors.
He said, “Workers’ Day serves as a reminder of the historic struggles for better conditions, and I salute your commitment to service and nation-building.”
In his address, the governor also highlighted efforts to tackle insecurity, noting that the state had strengthened the Amotekun Corps and enhanced collaboration among security agencies to improve safety.
On welfare, he said his administration had ensured prompt payment of salaries and allowances, alongside the implementation of regular, cash-backed promotions for workers.
He said, “We have prioritised the welfare of our workforce, ensuring that salaries are paid as and when due while promotions are carried out without delay.”
In his remarks, the Head of Service, Bayo Philip, praised the administration’s reforms, stating that they have improved working conditions and boosted confidence within the civil service.
