Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Friday highlighted his administration’s achievements in workers’ welfare while seeking their support for his re-election bid.

The governor spoke at the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, where he reiterated his commitment to improving the condition of the workforce.

Oyebanji said his government had maintained regular payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, adding that all outstanding promotion arrears had been cleared.

He said, “We have prioritised workers’ welfare through prompt payment of salaries and entitlements, and we do not owe promotion arrears.”

The governor also disclosed that his administration had strengthened the public service through recruitment across critical sectors such as education, health and administration.

“We will continue to employ qualified personnel to enhance service delivery and strengthen our workforce,” he added.

Oyebanji further seized the opportunity to declare his intention to seek re-election in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, urging workers to support his administration at the polls.

He said, “I urge you to come out en masse to vote for our party. We want not just victory, but a resounding mandate from Ekiti people.”

In their separate remarks, labour leaders commended the governor’s performance but called for sustained efforts, noting that improved welfare and job security remained essential to workers’ productivity.
