Yayi promises education reforms, technical training in Ogun
The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, Sen. Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has promised to expand technical and vocational education, address shortages of qualified teachers and improve classroom infrastructure if elected governor in 2027.
Adeola made the pledge on Thursday while presenting his nine-point development agenda during a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at the Iwe Iroyin Press Centre in Abeokuta.
He said his administration would prioritise education alongside infrastructure, job creation, agriculture, healthcare and industrialisation, with emphasis on equipping young people with skills needed for employment and entrepreneurship.
Adeola also proposed training 100,000 young people in digital skills by 2031 as part of his youth development plan. He said a Youth Enterprise Hub would be established in Abeokuta, with satellite hubs across the state and microcredit support for young entrepreneurs.
The Ogun West senator said his administration would also promote sports and creative development through multipurpose sports complexes in each senatorial district, grassroots talent centres and an Ogun Youth Sports Academy.
Beyond education and youth development, Adeola pledged to improve public infrastructure, including the introduction of a state bus mass transit programme and efforts to develop commuter rail connections between Abeokuta, Lagos and industrial corridors.
He also promised to strengthen healthcare, agriculture and security, while proposing reforms in public finance, the civil service, justice and local government administration. He said the state would pursue greater investment in tourism, creative industries and digital development.
Adeola said his manifesto would be converted into measurable implementation plans, with government agencies assigned specific performance targets and subjected to regular public reporting. He urged journalists to monitor his administration’s performance and hold him accountable if he wins the 2027 governorship election.
