‘You are of unsound mind,’ Dino Melaye attacks Wike over Kogi guber bid

Former Senator and current governorship aspirant, Dino Melaye, has launched an attack on the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, over comments made about his gubernatorial bid in Kogi State.

In a statement, Melaye accused Wike of having an “unsound mind” and being a “prodigal head” for criticizing his aspiration to become governor of Kogi State.

Melaye accused Wike of being “hallucinated” by the resources of Rivers State and turning himself into a “depraved interloper” who engages in “pitiable melodrama” when he is away from his “bottle companions.”

Melaye also accused Wike of being a “self-appointed public office regulator” who believes he can determine what happens in states not contiguous to Rivers State.

Melaye, who has served as a member of the Federal House of Representatives and has been elected twice into the Senate, said that Wike had asked for his support to become the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, but he declined, opting to support Atiku Abubakar instead.

In response to Wike’s criticism, Melaye said: “I have neither sought for nor expected support from Wike. My aspiration is on course. The least I will spare time is distractions from the contentions of the untamed tongue of Wike. As I move forward, I’m guided by the Scriptural invocation.”

Melaye also suggested that Wike’s behavior had contributed to the negative perception of the PDP.

He said: “The indiscretion and war of attrition embarked on by Wike contributed to the public perception of our great party. He sees nothing good in the leadership of the party, yet he cannot move to another party because which party will accept Wike in his irredeemable state of ignominious liability.”

Furthermore, Melaye criticized Wike’s management of resources in Rivers State and suggested that the governor’s actions may lead to his post-tenure survival being at risk.

“If Wike were a reflective mind, he should now be more concerned about his post-tenure survival because with the recklessness he exhibited in mismanaging the resources of Rivers State, his prison uniform must have been sewn, and his inmate number must be waiting for his allocation,” Melaye said.

Melaye ended his statement with a Bible verse, encouraging Wike to stay on his lane and not distract him from his aspirations.

“Wike, stay on your lane. I am Daniel Dino Melaye. My specialty is to tame lions, whether they be white or black, dwelling in rocks or floating on Rivers,” he said.
