“You voted me for development, not stories”- Okpebholo tells Edo residents

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has restated that his administration remains firmly focused on delivering visible, people-centred development across the state.
The governor said the mandate given to him by the people of Edo was clear and non-negotiable, stressing that nothing would distract his government from its development agenda.

Okpebholo spoke in Benin City during a town hall meeting with members of the Akpakomiza Movement for Tinubu (Team FIGO-Connect), where he reminded supporters that their votes were cast with development as the primary goal.
“You voted for me for a reason, and that reason is the development of Edo State,” he said, adding that his vision is to transform Edo from an ancient city into a modern one without losing focus.

He explained that projects being executed across the state are driven by the real needs of communities, recalling how the severe gully erosion he witnessed during a campaign visit to Temboga influenced his development priorities and led to visible interventions.
The governor stressed that development should not be seen as a personal achievement but as a collective success made possible by the support of the people, noting that accountability remains central to his leadership.
Okpebholo also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the removal of fuel subsidy and recent tax reforms as bold steps that favour the common man, particularly with tax exemptions for low-income earners.

He listed ongoing projects such as the reconstruction of Sapele Road, erosion control and road works in Ogheghe, and interventions in long-neglected public schools as evidence of his administration’s commitment to sustainable development.
The meeting was attended by APC leaders and state officials, while members of the Labour Party’s Obedient Movement announced the collapse of their structures in Edo State and declared support for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing confidence in his reform agenda.
