Yuletide: Adeleke felicitates christians, urges love, unity

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has extended heartfelt greetings to Christians in Osun State and beyond as they celebrate Christmas, encouraging them to embrace the values of love and compassion exemplified by Jesus Christ.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor described the birth of Jesus as a pivotal moment in human history. He emphasized that the festive season serves as a solemn reminder of the transformative power of love in saving humanity.

Highlighting unity and togetherness as key messages of Jesus Christ’s life, Governor Adeleke urged the people of Osun, particularly Christians, to draw inspiration from the spiritual significance of Christmas by sharing love and fostering harmony in their communities.

“I extend my warm wishes to Christian faithful in Osun State and beyond as we mark this year’s Christmas. The birth of Jesus Christ is a profound testament to the power of love and compassion,” the Governor said in his message.

He added: “In this season of celebration, I urge everyone to reflect on the message of renewal that the birth of Jesus Christ signifies. Let us engage in activities that unite rather than divide, build rather than destroy, and bring peace rather than conflict.

“It is my sincere appeal that we extend kindness to the needy and the vulnerable in our society, spreading love and generosity beyond boundaries. This is the true essence of Christmas, and it is vital that no one is left behind during this time.”

Governor Adeleke also highlighted his administration’s efforts to ease the economic challenges faced by the people of the state. He noted that the implementation of the new minimum wage for workers and pensioners would ensure that many families experience a joyful Christmas.

“Across Osun State, workers are receiving credit alerts reflecting the implementation of the new minimum wage, while pensioners are also benefiting from the approved welfare package. These initiatives underscore our administration’s commitment to ensuring families face no barriers to celebrating Christmas,” he said.

The Governor further noted the administration’s investments in infrastructure, particularly in upgrading the state’s road network to facilitate smooth movement during the festive season.

“As we continue to prioritise interventions that positively impact the lives of Osun residents, I assure everyone of our dedication to development projects that will drive progress in 2025 and beyond,” he added.

Governor Adeleke concluded by wishing all Osun residents a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year, urging them to celebrate responsibly while looking forward to a year of continued growth and progress.
