125 Abuja residents enroute North benefit from 50 per cent transport discount on Christmas Day

At least 125 residents in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have benefited from President Bola Tinubu’s intervention scheme on Christmas Day, which is part of the implementation of a 50 per cent discount introduced for Nigerians willing to travel during the Yuletide period.
This was revealed in a statement released on Monday by Olujimi Oyetomi, a spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Transportation Palliatives, Monitoring Situation Room initiative.
The statement stated further that upon boarding their vehicles, the 125 Abuja beneficiaries who were travelling to the northern part of the country were immediately reimbursed for 50 per cent of their transportation costs.
According to the report, Clement Okuefuna, the Chairman of the Association of Luxury Bus Owners (ALBON) Task Force on the Implementation of the reduction, made the payment possible.
The statement also disclosed that the reimbursement took place at the Area 1 Motor Park, where the majority of the buses that carried the passengers departed on Christmas Day at 5 a.m.
It said four (4 Nos.) buses with a capacity of 16 seats each started loading, carrying passengers.
Westernpost had reported that the federal government had announced plans to subsidise all luxury buses for ease of transportation for citizens willing to travel ahead of the festive holidays.
