2027: Accord warns members against anti-party activities in Osun

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has warned its members against engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the forthcoming National and State Assembly elections.

The warning followed a closed-door stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke on Wednesday, where the party resolved that all members must support candidates fielded by the party for the legislative elections.

The party said it had received reports of some Accord members allegedly supporting candidates of other political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action People’s Party (APP) and All Progressives Congress (APC). It warned that members or leaders found sponsoring or working for candidates of other parties would face severe disciplinary action.

The stakeholders also resolved that disagreements arising from the selection of legislative candidates should be resolved, urging members to unite behind the candidates already fielded by the party.

The meeting further directed a committee to identify constituencies where anti-party activities were being reported and take appropriate measures to address the situation, including sanctioning members who persisted in such conduct.

The Accord leadership in the state was also directed to activate monitoring mechanisms to identify members involved in anti-party activities and call them to order.

Meanwhile, Adeleke used the forum to appreciate party members for their support during what he described as a turbulent electioneering process.

The governor, who urged members to support Accord candidates in the forthcoming legislative elections and avoid anti-party activities, also tasked the party’s candidates with reaching out to all segments of the party.
