2027: APC must win hearts, not hold endless meetings in Abuja, Masari tells campaign council

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council to prioritise grassroots mobilisation over frequent meetings and activities at party offices.
Masari said the party’s success depended on its ability to reach voters in their polling units, wards, local governments and communities ahead of the 2027 general election.
He spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, where he urged members to spend less time on internal discussions and more time engaging Nigerians to secure their support.
“Politics is at the grassroots; it is about our polling units, wards, local governments and communities,” he said.
The presidential aide called on party members to reduce unnecessary trips to Abuja and party offices, as well as excessive directorate meetings, arguing that such activities should not distract them from voter mobilisation.
“We must reduce unnecessary visits to Abuja and party offices, as well as excessive directorate meetings, and instead focus on meeting people, convincing them, winning their hearts and securing votes in line with democratic principles,” he said.
Masari also cautioned members against spending too much time talking among themselves, urging them to take their message directly to the electorate.
“Stop talking to yourselves and start talking to the people,” he said.
He further urged the campaign council to tackle gossip and hate speech at the grassroots, stressing the need to hold meetings only when necessary and direct campaign efforts towards communities where voters could be reached.
