2027 Presidency: Governor Eno’s voice of reason, by Kola Amzat

Recently, during the commissioning of Akwa Ibom segment of about 100 kms of the 700 kms Lagos-Calabar coastal road at Uyo, by Federal Government, the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Eno declared unequivocally, that President Bola Ahmed TINUBU (GCFR), will surely complete his eight 8 years of two term tenures.

As a respected governor of one of the key federating units in the country, the governor sincere spontaneous declaration was consequent upon the unprecedented infrastructural developments across the country he has personally witnessed, peace that resonates in all the six geopolitical zones, the new regime of unity and harmony amongst more than 300 ethnic groups across the land, the strengthen of the nation territorial integrity, as well as several lofty and laudable policy reforms that are fast turning the tide in economy, education, infrastructures, medical facilities, ICT sector, agricultural landscape, and socio-cultural segments.

It’s instructive that this declaration came from one of the PDP governors, and indeed, a strong pillar of the party in terms of funding, logistics and, as well as historical affiliation.

For emphasis, Akwa Ibom state has been a political fortress of PDP since the turn of 4 th Republic in 1999.

If therefore, such reassuring and progressive declaration is coming from the governor of one of the richest states in the land, Nigerians have no other choice than not only to belief, but, profoundly applaud the cleric governor for his patriotism, insight and ability to properly understand the nation political dynamics.

There is no doubt that some top members of opposition parties, and disgruntled elements within the nation political class would like to take the cleric governor to task, even though, they are also well conscious of the fact that, only Jupiter could halt Tinubu second term in office.

They would like to mischievously be swimming in illusion and ocean of deception, as well as pre-occupying themselves with erroneous belief that they’ve the wherewithal to unhorse and halt the president in his bid for second term in office.

But, the governor has spoken, and clearly too. And, the declaration is statement of facts.

It’s also not in doubt that millions of Nigerians are already on the same page with the amiable Akwa Ibom state governor. Teeming Nigerian population are aware that come rain, come sunshine, the Nigerian electorates would return the president back into office to complete numerous developmental projects and other awesome initiatives in all gamut which his tenure has heralded.

And, this writer would like to enquire from few members of opposition parties presently running from pillar to post with the sole objective of halting the second term of the incumbent president, that, even if per- adventure, they get hold of power in 2027, what would they want to do differently from what to turn the tide, better than what Tinubu administration is presently offering and delivering to Nigerian people?

We vividly recollect that, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the acknowledged head of the coalition and former vice president of Nigeria had less- salutary tenure as second in command to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, so much the latter vowed that Atiku would ONLY be Nigeria president when he’s no more.

Indeed, Atiku escaped been humiliated out of office by impeachment through national assembly by whiskers, as Obasanjo desired.

If he had been impeached, he would never have had effrontery and temerity to be serially contesting for the nation topmost job. As a former FCT minister and DG, Bureau of Public Bureau Agency, El-Rufai was operating under supervision. Nigerian witnessed the monumental disaster his tenure of 8 years as governor of Kaduna state caused, with periodic human carnage and destruction of property worth several billions of Naira particularly in southern Kaduna left on the trail of his destructive tenure in the state.

For the period his tenure of 8 year lasted as helmsman in the state, there was a wide gulf in harmonious relationship and unity between Northern and Southern Kaduna, simply on account of his political immaturity, official recklessness and indiscretion.

This is the same man helter skelter to run for the nation topmost job. Simply put; with Nigeria under the watch of El-Rufai, Nigeria would extinct! Rotimi Amaechi has for long lost political relevance in Rivers state. FCT minister, Nyesom Wike had long consigned him to dust bin of political history.

As it is today, it’s doubtful whether Amaechi could win local government election in Rivers state! Other members of the coalition like Kayode Fayemi, Babachir Lawal and Salihu Lukman are politicians that have not only lost electoral values but have made FCT, Abuja as platform of deploying propaganda against government only to remain relevant.

Nigerians of goodwill should ask them all; what party do they belong? Wike Nyesom is fully in control of PDP with Damagum and Anyanwu as Chairman and Secretary General respectively.

Atiku Abubakar would be deceiving himself he’s still think he’s a bonafide member of the party.

El-Rufai recently defected to SDP. The party hierarchy at national level have re-emphasized to him that he should go to his ward in Kaduna state to join.

Until that is done, he’s not a member of SDP. Babachir Lawal, Lukman Salihu and coy don’t have parties. So, on which platform do they want to launch out?

In a short while from now, them would all fizzle out from the political horizon!

Those noise makers are all devoid of the leadership capacity, ingenuity, insight, courage, independent state of mind and country-wide knowledge to drive the affairs of this country as the president is presently doing.

Quite a number of politicians just desire to ascend to lead the country

for selfish reasons and pecuniary interests, without been comprehensively grounded in requisite capacity to lead and drive a country as sensitive and diverse as Nigeria.

Besides the fact that there is no worthy candidate with capacity to battle the incumbent president during 2027 general elections, this president has records of monumental accomplishments worthy enough for second term.

The president courageously drew curtains on the regime of fuel subsidies, as well as close the chapter of era of Multiple Foreign Exchange Systems, two hydra-headed challenges that had hitherto constituted a noose around the economic jugular of our nation and impeded our economic development and progress.

The reforms has signaled positive economic outlook for 2025, with the strengthening of Naira, coupled with consecutive quarters of foreign trade surpluses, as well as decreasing in fuel prices. The stock market recently hits ₦67 trillion market capitalization mark, an unprecedented record in the nation annals, an indication of creating trillions in wealth, and a surge in foreign investments eloquently demonstrating renewed trust and confidence in Nigerian economy. The aggregate government revenue is more than doubled, increasing by over ₦9.1 trillion in the first half of 2024 compared to the sameperiod in year 2023. The present administration have boldly engaged in major infrastructure projects all around the country. These include roads and bridges construction, huge investments in railways, power generation, as well as oil and gas developments. The audacious Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as well as Sokoto-Badagry Highway projects signpost government spirited efforts in this direction.

Oil production has significantly improved to about 1.81 million barrels/day, with formidable security architecture already put in place within Niger Delta deep ocean axis. Related to this inflow of ForeignDirect Investments of over $500 million already signed and consummated.

Another milestone achievement of the present administration is reduction in REVENUE to DEBT SERVICE RATIO from 97% to 68% in the llast 15 months.

The government has begun the implementation of ₦70,000 minimum wage, a remarkable development that has improved the well-being of Nigerians workers across the land.

There are plethora of incentives for farmers aimed at increasing food production, as well as huge investments on mechanized farming such as tractors and planters, for the same purpose. Just within 2 years of this administration, about 240,000 jobs through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises funding have been created. Consumer Credit Corporation has been established with over ₦200 billion take of grant to empower Nigerians to acquire essential products

without the need for immediate cash payments, making life easier for

millions of households around the country. Students in tertiary institution are not left behind in government programs and plans, with the approval of over ₦95.6 billion to access in

order to fund their individual educational aspirations. Another milestone achievement of Tinubu presidency is the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, an awesome initiative launched to power the transportation sector essentially to reduce costs. The president affirmed that this initiative has capacity to save over ₦2 trillion a month, being used to import PMS and AGO.

The audacious 2025 Appropriation Bill of ₦54.99 is also projected to reduce inflation from 34.6 to 15%, by significantly increasing food production, as well as promoting the local manufacturing of essential drugs and medical supplies. It’s instructive to note that, prices of staple foods have already been coming down, as projected.

Above are the main reasons why governors have affirmed to Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is poised for second term in office and that, he foresees no one to stop him in this quest. And, this writer concur absolutely with the very insightful and thoughtful governor in this respect.
